Updated: Dec 14, 2022

Ever feel stuck in the cleaning isle, wondering which products is going to clean the best and be safe for your family and pets? We have all been there before, but worry no longer, I have an easy solution to this problem. The EWG sear guide!!

Environmental Working Group

Since 1993, The Environmental Working Group has been a nonprofit American activist group that specializes in research and advocacy in the areas of agricultural subsidies, toxic chemicals, drinking water pollutants, and corporate accountability.

EWG Search Guide categorizes each product into a general category, such as floor cleaner or surface disinfectant. You can search for products in a category or by name after clicking the search bar.

EWG scores each ingredient in the product, which determines an overall letter grade for the product. This letter grade represents its overall safety level based on its ingredients. Once you have selected a product you can view a comprehensive breakdown of the:

- Product Ingredients

- What's on The Label

- Health & Environmental Concerns

- Warnings & Directions

- Green-Certified

- EWG Score

- Animal Testing

Be aware, some cleaners have ingredients with some concerns such as CITRUS LIMON (LEMON) PEEL OIL. Citrus Limon Peel Oil is a highly used, loved, and natural cleaning compound. Because of its acute aquatic toxicity, skin irritation/allergies/damage may occur; you must use this product cautiously. This does not make the cleaner unsafe to use, you must use it as directed and with caution to what surface you are applying it to.

For any cleaner to be effective and safe you must read its instructions and any caution statements before use.

Thank you for reading this short article on how to choose a safe cleaning product. I hope this short breakdown of the EWG website will help you determine and discover safe products for your home.
